Maker Faire, globally known as the “Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth”, is coming to Malta for the very first time between 2 and 4 October 2026. This family-friendly festival celebrates invention, creativity, resourcefulness and the global Maker Movement.
Esplora Interactive Science Centre, Kalkara, has officially acquired the licence to host Maker Faire Malta, bringing together inventors, creators, engineers, artists, hobbyists, educators, students and innovators for a unique celebration of creativity and hands-on learning.
The event, which was officially launched during a press conference held in Bormla on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, will provide a platform for makers of all ages and backgrounds to showcase their projects, inventions, experiments and ideas to the wider public. From robotics and digital fabrication to arts, crafts, sustainability, science experiments and interactive technologies, Maker Faire Malta promises an inspiring and engaging experience for families, students, educators, entrepreneurs and curious minds alike.
Xjenza Malta CEO, Mr Silvio Scerri said that the Esplora Interactive Science Centre had long been missing an important link with the wider community. “Through the arrival of the internationally renowned Maker Faire in Malta, that vision is now becoming a reality creating new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and public engagement in science, technology, and creativity.”
Esplora Senior Director, Mary Ann Cauchi, said:
“We are very excited to bring the Maker Faire brand to Malta. At Esplora, we continuously strive to instil a passion for STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Maker Faire is one way of achieving this. We want people to realise that they can create, innovate and build things themselves, and we hope this fair will serve as a springboard for future ideas, collaborations and opportunities.”
Maker Faire Malta will take place this October at the Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Kalkara, and is expected to attract local and international makers, educators, innovators and visitors from across the Maltese islands.
From her end Esplora Deputy Director, Ms. Kiki Mizzi said: “We want to recognise and celebrate our local makers- the people who dedicate countless hours to building, experimenting, learning, and creating, often quietly and without recognition.
These are the people at the heart of Maker Faire Malta.”
The call for makers and collaborators is now open and will close on 1 July 2026.
